President and Chief Executive Officer


George Schwend, co-founder of Health Language Inc., has decades of experience in healthcare and IT companies including roles as a General Manager, Corning Medical; Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Lab Force, Inc.; Senior Vice President and Director, Western Star; President, InfoScience; and co-founder, Senior Vice President and COO, Healthcare.com (NASDAQ:HCDC), formerly HIE (NASDAQ: HDIE) and Healthcare Communications, Inc.

A graduate of the University of Louisiana - Monroe, Mr. Schwend earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing.



Brian F. McDonaldBrian F. McDonald
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer


Brian McDonald has 17 years of experience in public and private corporations, including 11 years in the technology sector. Before joining Health Language, Mr. McDonald served as Chief Financial Officer of Jones Cyber Solutions, Ltd. where he was responsible for strategic, financial, and administrative oversight of domestic and overseas corporate operations. Mr. McDonald also served as Chief Financial Officer, Secretary, and Treasurer of Carlyle Golf, Inc., successfully directing the firm's initial public offering.




Marc HorowitzMarc A. Horowitz
Senior Vice President

Marc Horowitz, co-founder of Health Language Inc., has more than 25 years of experience in creating and developing commercial markets globally. Mr. Horowitz was most recently Group Business Development Director for iSOFT Group PLC, where he was charged with consolidating global business activities and disseminating the iSOFT business proposition worldwide.

Other experience includes his involvement as a co-founder of Healthcare Communications, Inc. (HCI), where he was responsible for international and domestic sales efforts. He helped propel HCI's rapid growth to 1,400 clients in 49 countries and supported HCI through its transformation into a strong, publicly traded company. Mr. Horowitz has also served as Regional Vice President of Asia/Pacific for the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) licensing arm. In this capacity, he was responsible for global partner coordination of all World Cup intellectual property.


Brian Levy, MDDr. Brian Levy, M.D.
Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer


Brian Levy has years of experience in medical informatics with development of terminologies, clinical content, and the use of the Internet by patients and physicians to improve care delivery. He leads a team of physicians, nurses, PhDs, and professional medical coders in the inclusion of terminologies, mappings, and other content in the Language Engine. Dr. Levy formerly served as the Medical Director of Multum Information Systems, building expertise in the pharmacy terminology and content domain.

Dr. Levy is also a practicing Board Certified internist in both inpatient and outpatient settings at a University of Colorado affiliated hospital, and received his medical school training at the University of Michigan. His numerous articles and presentations in the healthcare informatics arena detail his experience and expertise in this field.


Oswaldo LeónOswaldo (Oz) H. León
Vice President and Chief Technology Officer


With more than 25 years of domestic and global practice in commercial software development, online information services, and enterprise solutions, Mr. León additionally brings to Health Language his extensive experience and knowledge of the healthcare industry and software architecture, security, and integration.

Mr. León most recently served as the Chief Technology Officer of Jones International, Ltd. As part of their corporate executive management team he provided leadership for the technology direction and oversight of more than 20 business entities serving the e-commerce, software, education, and entertainment industries. Prior to that position he was Senior Vice President of Product Development and Chief Technology Officer of MPower Solutions, Inc., where he played a key role in leading a successful reorganization that resulted in the company going public and transitioning its product line to meet changing technology and business needs. Mr. León also served in senior leadership positions at Micromedex, Inc., Arco Coal Company, Echo Bay Mines, Great-West Life Assurance Company, and Conoco.

A graduate of Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Mr. León earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and political science.


Derek BairdDerek Baird
Vice President Sales, Provider Solutions


Derek Baird leads Health Language business development activities with healthcare IT vendors as well as hospitals and health systems. Mr. Baird has more than a decade of healthcare IT sales and marketing experience.

Most recently, Mr. Baird was the Director of Business Affairs for Zynx Health, where he oversaw product management, business development, and inside sales activities for the company.  Previously, he was the Marketing Director for Practice Partner, an ambulatory electronic health records vendor now part of McKesson.

Mr. Baird earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington, Seattle and received his Masters of Business Administration with honors from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.


April YoderApril Yoder
Vice President of Professional Services


April Yoder has over 20 years experience in Professional Services providing for clients and their needs. April leads an HLI team comprised of clinicians, informatics experts, project managers, technical leads and documentation support that focuses on delivering the initial Language Engine implementation and other multitude of services offerings provided by HLI.

April most recently served as a Project Director for DISH Network, directing a two year program that consolidated and architected customer facing product data. Prior to serving DISH, April served as Director of Project Management for Jones Cyber Solutions, Inc. coordinating and leading project teams both globally and domestically for large, multi-tiered programs for the implementation of telecommunications customer service software.

A graduate from Regis University, April earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
