Language engine & normalize data
The Health Language flagship software, the Language Engine® (LE®), automates the incorporation of standard medical terminology and coding into healthcare software applications. Using common technologies like Java, .NET, XML, and web services, the Language Engine enables standard and custom medical content to be integrated into existing systems and applications. With the Language Engine, you can view, manage, export, and standardize all medical content on a single platform.

In addition, LE enables standard content to be managed and delivered alongside localized and custom content, and within their native structures. This speeds integration and eases maintenance of both standard and local content sets.

The Language Engine includes several tools for terminology modeling, updating, and deployment:

LExScape®

is the LE mapping, modeling, and management tool that lets you manage content that resides in the LE database.  With LExScape, you can develop subsets, conduct searches, create mappings, and resolve content conflicts. The LExScape display shows concepts in context with parents and children, as well as terms, facets, subsets, and other features.

LE Runtime Services helps you integrate the Language Engine by leveraging web services, Java, and C# APIs.  The LE provides a broad set of API calls that a developer can use to address terminology services requirements within applications.

The LE Indexer provides real-time indexing of unstructured text.  The Indexer locates concepts in unstructured text input, as well as Word, PDF, and HTML files, by matching input text to terms in a target content set or terminology.  This powerful tool includes partial term word matching, negation, and spelling and word-form variants.

LExUpdate lets you easily load content updates from standards organizations. LExUpdate integrates localized and custom content changes with standard terminology updates, as well as with the code-set mappings provided by Health Language. The result is merged content that can be upgraded by future content and software releases while remaining aligned with standards and minimizing semantic drift.

LExPlorer is a browser-based application similar to LExScape and providing read-only access to content residing in the LE database.
